You don't have to navigate the Spartan landscape alone. TEMPO pairs incoming transfer students (mentees) with successful, second, third and fourth-year students (mentors) who have already navigated the transition to MSU.

Mentors offer insider advice on everything from valuable tips around campus and the community to the best places to grab a quiet study spot on campus.

As a mentee, you'll meet with your mentor throughout the semester to discuss your goals, talk about any challenges you're facing, and receive peer support for MSU-specific systems and traditions.

All incoming transfer Spartans are invited to apply for a mentor. Email invitations from TSSC were sent in June 2026.  

The Transfer Student Advisory Board (TSAB) is a diverse leadership group representing a wide array of majors, identities, and life experiences who provide feedback to improve the transfer experience, advocate for fellow students and work to ensure other students feel supported through their social and academic transition to MSU.

Members of TSAB participate in:

• Monthly Leadership Meetings: Meet regularly with the TSSC Program Coordinator.
• Outreach & Engagement: Share your unique transfer story at campus events to help prospective and new students find their footing.
• Community Involvement: Attend weekly TSSC activities, serving as a familiar face and mentor for the transfer community.

Interested in joining? Current transfer students can apply by Aug. 31 for fall semester and Jan. 19, 2027, for spring. 

Sometimes the best advice comes from a conversation. The Spartan Transfer Hub is a podcast dedicated to the unique voices and experiences of transfer students at Michigan State University.

Hosted by students, the series features conversations with MSU faculty, staff and students, spotlighting the resources, programs and personal stories that shape the transfer journey. Each episode offers practical insights and inspiration, from navigating campus life and academic transitions to accessing support services and building community.
